DOVER - Joseph F. "Butch" Koska, Jr., passed away at home on Monday, March 9th, 2015 of complications of two types of cancer that he has been fighting for several years.

Mr. Koska was born June 12th, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland., the son of the late Joseph F. Koska, Sr. and Matilda Koska.

He proudly served his country in the US Air Force with the 377th SPS K-9 Section handling Rex-703F, 09/67 to 10/68, while stationed at Tan Son Nhut, Vietnam. He retired from the military after 28 years of service as a Senior Master Sergeant.

He also retired as a Baltimore, Maryland County Detective.

After he retired from the Police Department, he decided to work for the AF Reserves and accepted a permanently assigned day job. Then he got called up for active duty during Desert Storm and served in Kuwait.

Joseph had a lifetime love of dogs and enjoyed playing the guitar and experiencing the outdoors. He was an avid Baltimore sports fan. But the most joy that he got in life was spending time with his grand kids.

In addition to his parents, and his mom, Hazel; he was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Ream. He is survived by his first wife, Cindy; two sons, Tyson Koska and his wife Ana of Timonium, Md. and Alan Koska and his wife Diana of Phoenix, Md.; four grandchildren, AJ, Brooke, Mia and Nadja; his sister, Stacy Wuest of Cheswold, who lovingly cared for him; and two brothers, Craig Koska and his wife Nancy of Smyrna, and Billy Lowe of Fla. He is also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held Mon., Mar. 16, 2015 from 11 am to 12:30 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna, Delaware where celebration of life services will be held at 12:30 p.m.

Burial with honors will follow in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.
