Charlie Steel

Charles R. Steel --- Charles R. Steel, 54, of Lynnwood, Wash., passed away Sunday, February 25, 2001 at the VA Medical Center Seattle.

Born December 18, 1947 in Omaha, Neb.

Charlie was a very active member of several Veterans Organizations, as a Past Vice Commander and Finance Officer for The American Legion, Post 37, in Lynnwood.

As a Vietnam veteran he was also active in funding the K-9 War Dog Memorial, with the Vietnam Dog Handlers Association.

Charlie never stopped thinking of his K-9 Friend Augie who he left behind in Vietnam.

Charlie was a proud member of the 377th K-9 Security Police Squadron at Tan Son Nhut 1968 - 1969.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca (Becky) of Creston, Iowa; one sister, Eileen Sanders of Gardena, Calif; one brother, Robert (Bob) Steel of Escondido, Calif; scores of cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service in celebration of Charlie's life will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2001 at the Lynnwood Elks Lodge at 7:30 p.m.

The Lodge is at 6620 - 196th SW in Lynnwood.
